SOUNDS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Documenting as Resistance in Diversity Plaza, Jackson Heights

Up next from Diversity Plaza: Documenting as Resistance!

Our second community archiving day “Sounds of the Neighborhood,” will take place on Saturday August 19 in the heart of Jackson Heights featuring none other than Jackson Height’s own
@djrekha on @thesonicycle . The event will be live streamed and include an opening set by @selectorperalta as well community decks for all those dusty records you’ve been waiting to shake off and share with the hood.

As we continue mobilizing our mean green dancing machine block by block to document the plaza through music and radio storytelling, we ask what quintessential
#sounds make you think of Diversity Plaza? What are great #musical #memories you have of this place? Would you like to interview a friend or tell us about your favorite album?

Make sure to join us and do your part for the forthcoming collection to be deposited with American Folklife Center at The Library of Congress.
